Finally, it snowed!

Monday morning started off with 8 men from church helping a man pack up a 20 foot U-Haul truck so he could leave that afternoon to start his drive to NY. He was mostly organized, but had stuff in two different mobile homes, which required moving the van. He has five dogs, one of which is a St Bernard. The three larger dogs needed their cages set up in very back of the truck so they could be loaded and unloaded on the drive. He really needed a larger truck, as he had to leave some items behind.  We finished in about two hours. Sandy had another chiropractor adjustment in the afternoon.  We attended empty nestors at church that evening. The food theme was 'southern cooking'; so I made biscuits and gravy; it was well received since there was no leftover gravy.

Tuesday afternoon I had my regular dermatologist checkup; he did a biopsy on two areas of my face. The lab report indicated one is benign but the one on my cheek is basil cell and will need to be removed. Not my favorite thing to do. The hospital called to say they had a cancellation and could Sandy come in on Wednesday for her PET scan which was previously scheduled for the following Monday. The scan requires some modification in her eating routine. She was able to change her appointment with the wound healing center to accommodate this procedure.

So on Wednesday, she had her scan and then went to the wound healing center. They always change her bag and the doctor checks out the wound.  The wound continues to look healthy and appears to be gradually shrinking.

Thursday Sandy had her early morning appointment with Clifford and then an afternoon appointment with the chiropractor.  Good thing she is able to drive herself to these meetings.

Friday was our ward temple day and I left Sandy at home while I joined 14 ward members as we traveled to St Louis.  From Rolla north, visible signs of the snow storm of the previous week were evident, but did not impact our travels. We all had a great time returned home safely. In my absence, the oncologist called with the PET scan results. Good new, bad news. The scan indicated there is no new cancer growth; it also showed some growth in the previous cancer sites. Not the news we had hoped for.  However, Sandy stated that while disappointing, it was not a complete surprise since there as been no appreciable weight gain and she isn't up to leaping tall buildings in a single leap yet.

So what is our next step??  She has decided to stop taking the infusion injections since they have not resulted in a shrinkage of the cancer. There is one other healthy medical protocol that Sandy discovered in her cancer research that she intends to pursue. That won't start until next week and can be done at home.

Working around Sandy's schedule and my appointments, I was able to work on the shower at the rent house that I started the previous week.  I was able to get it sheet rocked, tile installed, and grouted by Saturday. It needs a couple of days to cure and will be ready for use. Cutting tile in low 40 degree weather is no fun, but is doable.

Saturday morning we were treated to a beautiful snow shower; the flakes were as big as silver dollars.

We received about two inches by days end.  And this afternoon, there is still a lot of snow on the
ground. It makes the earth appear clean and pure and very beautiful.

We disturbed a large group of vultures enjoying fresh venison as we traveled home today.

This week we drive to Little Rock to fly to SoCal. We will meet Adam's family and do four days at Disneyland with them. We will also have an opportunity to visit with Sandy's sisters and husbands.

We hope you enjoy your week!
