Trip Home

Deborah and Ian returned from their Mini-moon on Monday. Although it was short, they both enjoyed the time away from home, children, and responsibilities.  It was Tom's birthday and  I neglected him terribly. I'd already bought him the tablet for his birthday... but somehow I thought this was the 21st... and didn't even wish him a Happy Birthday until dinner time.

I really enjoyed little Christopher.  He's a happy child and will come, hands up, asking to be held.  He'll snuggle a little... then he's ready to go and play again.  It was fun to get to know him better.

Tom spend the day putting siding on the back of Deborah's house.  It looks great.  But even though it was a dry heat, by evening, he was a tired puppy.  When we took Tom's luggage to Rebecca's car (at her grandmother's) to pack, we also stopped by an ice cream store and bought Tom a HUGE banana split to sorta-kinda-maybe make up for so terribly neglecting his birthday.

Tuesday Ian took me to the airport and I flew to Branson.  Rebecca picked up Tom and they started their drive across the country.

A friend picked me up at the airport and drove me back home.  It had been dry and beastly hot in Arkansas.  (The weather was delightful in Washington at the reunion.)  But for the past few days it had rained.  Things were greening up and it was pretty cool.

I drove to get Levi and bring him back home in the pouring rain.  That was one delighted dog!  He was happy to see me.  But when we got home, he wandered over the house looking for Rebecca and the children.  When he was sure they were not to be found, he attached himself to me and became my shadow.

If I was in the office, so was he. If I got up to get a drink of water, I had company down the hall, in the kitchen, and back to the office.

I think I've finalized writing a newsletter for a Canadian company and rewriting a website for my Infinite Banking Agent.  I just need to see the money to get started.  Well, I've been doing research and thinking about how I will proceed on both projects.

I've spent several days in the garden getting it back together.  The garden sitters really did a good job. They picked beans and hung them on the neighbor's door. It was reasonably weed free in the middle.  The Bermuda grass from the edges was encroaching so I attacked that.  Tom helped put the tomato cages upright.  When they get heavy, they fall over.  And we hacked back the vineing spinach that was taking over some of the other plants.  We have 7 cantaloupe coming along and have picked enough cucumbers to give some away.  I tossed the pathetic broccoli that had been eaten down to leaf spines.  And I just realized today that the green onion starts I planted, didn't.

Tom and Rebecca arrived home on Thursday evening.  They were happy to be through traveling, too.  Levi was ecstatic to see them!  Friday they both spent settling back in. Tom had a wedding in the morning. In the afternoon, we went to the lake for a birthday party for a friend.  Some swam.  It drizzled so I didn't.  But I ate the tasty hamburgers.

Then on Saturday, Tom awoke with an unhappy stomach.  When he stays in bed, I know he's sick!  He really just slept and rested most of the day.  In the evening I gave him a raindrop treatment with the Essential Oils.  He really wanted to be better to go to church on Sunday.

Saturday Rebecca took the children to the library for the end-of-summer-reading awards and parties. As usual, the kids came home with loads of new books.  What fun!  That afternoon was also the Pioneer Day celebration at Gasville Park. I took the younger set of kids to the park while Rebecca stayed at the library for the older two's activity.  Then she came over.  I visited a bit and went back home to see how Tom was doing.  It was a fun activity and well run.

Today Tom did feel better and went off to church.  We had good speakers and it was a good day.

I love my family!  I have the best kids and grandees.
