Since we are no longer on a mission—it seemed we needed to move to a different blog as well. I didn’t want to go back to our pre-mission blog, so we decided to move forward to a new blog: Fox Flash. Address is www.foxflash2@blogspot.com
We left Monday morning to drive to Jonathan and Kristy’s house. We had a pleasant drive north with good weather. Since the last time we drove there, the roads have improved. We had freeway driving all but the first hour and 15 minutes. Kansas City will be our new temple, when it is finished. It was probably about 5.5 hours away.
We so enjoyed visiting with Jonathan and Kristy and Isabelle, Miriam, David, Emily, and Zachary. We were show around the farm with the chickens, the dogs, and the area that will hold the cows and sheep. We also saw the orchard and the garden. We read books to the children and cuddled Zachary. He’s a good baby and the 3rd of the five we had not yet seen.
Wednesday Jon and Kristy were teaching a dance class to the young men and women at church. We went and re-learned how to foxtrot. It was fun, but clearly it is a talent we have yet to develop.
We got to see wonderful rain storms! And it was fun to go back to earlier spring with the leaves just coming out and the red bud in bloom.
We left Iowa Friday morning and headed for Deborah and Ian’s house. As we drove through Wyoming we saw snow on the mountains and the sides of the road, and winter still holding fast to the trees. The rivers flowed at the edge of their banks and antelope grazed as we drove past. We enjoyed some books on tape to pass the time.
It was fun to see Deborah, Ian, Sarah, Steven, and Samantha—baby #4 we had to visit. We also got to see their new home. It’s lovely. They are in walking distance (across the street) from the chapel! I am not envious. No. I’m not. At all. Okay. I am. We walked to church today.
Last evening we went to a spaghetti dinner at Deborah’s old ward and she had a chance to reconnect with friends. We had a chance to eat a great dinner and get some wonderful home-made deserts.
We’ve been very relaxed on this trip. We choose when to get up and then leave when we’re ready. We’ve been blessed with safety. And we’ve so liked it that the grandchildren have been happy to see us, too.
